Cheap car hire in Germany

Germany is a large country, that’s quick and easy to navigate thanks to a strong road network, which offers plenty of scenery to make exploring even more worthwhile. A car hire in Germany is often the most convenient way of discovering this beautiful and diverse place.

Most of the major rental companies operate from the main cities and airports across Germany, so you can choose from esteemed and trusted companies. Airport pick-ups can be the easiest way of organising your rental, although it may prove more cost-effective to collect a vehicle from a downtown location. It’s worth comparing the price between the two options to see if you can benefit from pricing and availability.

Cheap car hire in Germany from only £1.96 per day!

Berlin £26.17 Check Availability Frankfurt £25.79 Check Availability
Dusseldorf £27.44 Check Availability Hanover £23.18 Check Availability

The major cities in Germany such as Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt are quite well spread out, but due to those excellent roads, travel times are not overly punishing. A drive from Hamburg in the far north all the way down to Munich in the south east corner of the country, should take less than six hours, despite a distance of nearly 500 miles.

There are a number of renowned scenic drives within Germany, which are worth doing should you hire a car there. These include the Romantic Road in Bavaria that leads to the foothills of the German Alps, the Castle Road that runs from Mannheim to Prague in the Czech Republic, punctuated by over 70 castles, and the 50-mile-long Wine Road that snakes through Rhineland-Palatinate.

Germany’s roads are well-signposted, but due to the presence of some different characters to the English alphabet, can sometimes be difficult to read. If you don’t have your own European sat nav or travel-friendly smartphone, it may be a good idea to include a GPS hire with your vehicle rental, particular if your German isn't that great.
