Thanks to the effects of Lake Ontario, Toronto enjoys warm, humid summers, but suffers cold, icy winters, with snowstorms not uncommon. During the summer, temperatures reach the high 20s Centigrade, and the city can feel uncomfortably muggy. Winters can plummet to minus 10 (or more, with windchill). Late spring and early autumn see the pleasantest temperatures, when the city enjoys long daylight hours and clearer air quality.
