Bus

Dubai International Airport has a fleet of buses which connect various parts of the airport with the city and most of the international hotel chains. Buses run all day/all night, every half hour. Airport Bus 401 - runs to the Deira section of Dubai via DNATA Airline Centre, Al Maktoum Road, Deira Taxi Station and Al Sabkha Bus Station. Airport Bus 402 - runs to Dubai City area via Deira City Centre, Al Karama, Golden Sands, Al Mankhool and Al Ghubaiba Bus Station. The rate is Dh 3 AED per journey.

Metro

Perhaps the most convenient transfer from the airport is the Dubai Metro. The Metro stations are located at both terminals - with the Dubai Red Line services stopping at most major destinations in Dubai, such as Dubai Creek, the Mall of the Emirates and the Financial Center. Fares are cheap, at around Dh 5, and feeder buses provide efficient onward connections. If you're planning on taking a number of Metro (or bus) journeys, grab a 'Nol card' - a package of tickets valid on all public transport in Dubai, representing great value, and greater convenience. The card can also be used against paid parking meters in the city.

Car hire

You can rent a car from the airport - with most of the major rental outfits having a kiosk in the Arrivals hall. Motorists drive on the right hand side of the road - and the legal limit for alcohol is zero. If you're planning on exploring outside of city limits, a 4x4 is strongly recommended.
