The extreme heat and high humidity of summer in Qatar means that light-weight clothing is advisable. Temperatures can reach 50°C in July/August! The best time to visit is between October and April, when the temperature dips. However, remember to take a jumper as the air conditioning can be fierce within the malls, cinemas and restaurants of Qatar.

Qatar is a Muslim region, both men and women should dress modestly as a courtesy to both Qataris and Muslims. Swimwear is allowed within hotels, but it is not appropriate to show too much skin in other public places. Tops should cover the shoulders and upper arms, and skirts or shorts should fall to or below the knee. Women are not made to cover their hair. Visitors should be thoughtful of their clothing particularly in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Alcohol is not as widely found in Qatar as in Dubai, however, most 5 star hotels have licences to serve alcohol.

Arabic is the official and main language, but English is widely spoken in every part of the country. Despite the fact that most Qatari people speak fluently English, they feel honoured to see their guests speaking a few words in Arabic. Here are a few words to start you off:
