Holidays in Beijin

Get ready to be impressed by some tip top tourist attractions as you look to plan your Beijing holiday.

Start off your sightseeing at the Forbidden City, a huge palace of emperors from years gone by that is spread over 250 acres. Then head to the Temple of Heaven and witness further mesmerising ancient architecture, while you might like to get there nice and early and experience the full brilliance of the Echo Wall.

Head a little out of the city to visit the Summer Palace, the largest royal gardens in China. Stroll around the former emperors' retreat, taking in ancient temples, pavilions, bridges and Kunming Lake.

Make your way a little further out of town to see the majestic Great Wall of China, with Badaling the closest stretch to Beijing. For a more rustic experience of the wall, seek out Gubeikou, Jinshanling, Huanghuacheng or Jiankou, all within a few hours of the city.

How about a night of romance at Houhai Lake, with dinner on board your own private gondola as the sun sets around you. Or sample one of the city's culinary delicacies, Beijing duck, before experiencing a touch of the arts with a trip to the opera.
