Last Minute Easter Holidays
So you’ve survived the winter weather, the frantic seasonal socialising, but summer holidays seem ages away. That’s where the last minute Easter holiday comes to the rescue. In 2013, Easter stretches from 29th March to 1st April, so it gives you some good options. It’s early enough in the year to still grab some high-level skiing in the Alps or the Rockies, but late enough to bask in some early season sun.
Add a few days to the Easter weekend and you could enjoy a decent enough break, wherever you go. What’s more, you won’t be at the mercy of local Bank Holiday crowds or British weather that seems to be getting more and more unpredictable as the years roll by.

If you’re travelling as a family, Orlando is a good choice. Probably the most child-friendly holiday destination on earth, there’s entertainment around every corner. The weather is perfect too, for doing the theme parks, sports and other outdoor diversions. Coming after the cool winter months, but before the thunderstorms of the steamy hot summer days, the average temperature hovers in the mid 20s C.
On the theme park front, there is a whole new Fantasyland at Walt Disney World. The highlight is the ‘Under The Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid’, as well as plenty of similarly themed restaurants. Also, the new Dumbo-themed rides and roller coaster are also now open. Needless to say, Easter egg hunts, parades and other special events happen on a grand scale all over the Orlando theme park world at this time of year.
The kids will also like Dubai, and you’ll appreciate the year-round sunshine, but avoiding the extreme summer desert heat. Rain? Definitely not here. Water parks, beaches with plenty of activities, desert safaris, balloon trips, Gulf sailing cruises, diving, market haggling….there’s plenty to fill your days.
If you fancy something a little more exotic, the kids will be fascinated by all that Egypt has to offer – from Mummies to camel rides, traditional sailing trips on the Nile or a donkey ride into the desert. Once again, the weather is moderately warm, making sightseeing a lot more comfortable.

Find the Perfect Last Minute Easter Holiday!
If you’re travelling as a couple, why not think about travelling a little further afield on a nice little break before your major summer holiday? Of course, places like Barcelona or Rome are pretty special at Easter, but an overnight flight could land you somewhere altogether different.
For example, take a low-cost flight to Cape Town and you can enjoy the last of the late-summer weather, still warm, and less windy than usual. It’s the perfect time to explore the Wine Route, exploring the wonderful wine estates just outside the city.
The great thing about flying to somewhere like Cape Town (or Kenya too) is that you get all the benefits of somewhere really different, but without the jet lag to eat into your limited holiday time.
If you are thinking of a safari in South Africa, Easter is just on the cusp of the ideal season, which is the Southern Hemisphere’s winter. So, a night under the stars listening to the roar of the bush, or watching the herds come down to drink at a water-hole could be an experience you will never forget.
Wherever you celebrate Easter this year, enjoy your break, and don’t forget to keep your eye on Netflights.com for good last-minute deals and more ideas about interesting destinations.
