City Summer Holidays - Bangkok
Summer holidays in Bangkok are always exciting. Most travellers choose the early part of the year to visit as going in the summer can be a great way of avoiding crowds of tourists and bagging a great deal.
With plenty of events going on throughout the summer, Bangkok is never a dull place to visit. Aside from the main sights of Bangkok – such as the temples of Wat Arun and Wat Pho, the floating market or the Grand Palace – there are lots of seasonal activities and events happening around the city.

More About Bangkok
From the annual International Swanboat Race (a race in which different countries compete in traditional Thai swanboats down the Chao Phraya river) in September to the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale (a massive indoor market, selling everything from souvenirs to clothes at knock down prices, where you will get even more than usual for your Baht) in June, there are great events that everyone will enjoy.
September also sees the annual Thailand Open come to Bangkok, one of the stages of the ATP tennis tour and with high prize money this draws some of the biggest names in the sport.
Food in Bangkok
If food is more your thing then you will enjoy the Gourmet Food Festival each September, taking place at the Four Seasons Hotel. During this month-long event, top chefs from all over the world descend on the hotel to cook a range of lunches and dinners at different venues across the luxurious five star hotel. The festival’s centre piece is a seven course dinner in which each of the top chefs prepare one course so that the diners can sample each chef’s cooking in one go – a must for anyone with a passion for food.
Summer is Thailand’s wettest period, so be prepared for a few showers – especially in September, the country’s wettest month. Temperatures can also vary quite a lot during the June to September period, ranging from approximately 24 - 32°C, averaging in the high twenties.
