Shangri La's Rasa Ria Resort, Borneo - Hotel Facilities

Perfectly-placed to make the most of its coastal location on Pantal Dalit Beach, backing onto the verdant jungle of the local 400-acre nature reserve, the Shangri La Rasa Ria Resort has two main accommodation buildings.

The Garden Wing has 326 rooms and suites, whilst, a little way away, the Ocean Wing accommodates 90 in sumptuously-appointed rooms facing the sea. It has its own private pool and exclusive breakfast restaurant.

Leave the tranquillity of your room, and there is so much to fill your holiday. Sports abound, on land and sea. Play golf on an 18-hole Ted Parslow-designed course, bird-watch or jungle walk through the nearby nature sanctuary, have an orang-utan encounter, be a game ranger for a day. And so on.

There are catamarans to be sailed, bicycle tours, horse-riding, boat charters, traditional fishing trips, diving, river excursions, and a host of water sports. Once you’ve jetski-ed, wind-surfed, kayaked, or whatever else takes your fancy, the peace and pampering of the Spa at Dalit Bay will soothe your aches, pains and worries. At this spa, the healing philosophy comes directly from the stunning local landscapes and colourful traditions of Sabah. All treatments begin with a purifying foot ritual, and seek to balance your CHI, through herbal harmony, traditional recipes and methods.

Kids will find their happy spot in the kids’ pool, with its fun slide. Book into the Kids’ Club that caters for four to twelve year olds, and there is a long list of things to keep young minds occupied, nearly 30 in fact. From batik painting to kite flying, scavenger hunts to pony rides, even helping the Rangers care for orang-utans, there’s never a dull moment.

For the grown-ups, there are daily scheduled activities taking in everything from cooking demos to beach soccer, water volleyball to the correct way to wear a sarong. Every evening, at sunset, there is the magical lighting ceremony by the ‘prince’ or ‘princess’ of the day.

Dining is a rich experience, with menus that span the worlds of western, Malaysian and Asian favourites. You are sure to find something special at one of the five restaurants and cafes, and trio of lounges/bars.
