Yotel, New York - Rooms
Rooms at Yotel are actually called ‘cabins’. Not as in log cabins, but as in air travel. Inspired by modern passenger jet design, spaces are compact, but full of ingenious space-maximising ideas and touches. There’s no scrimping on things like monsoon showers, super-strength WiFi, a work desk with multi-choice power sockets and a ‘technowall’ with TV and iPod/MP3 connectivity. Sofa, ironing board and iron, hair dryer are all included too.
Pay a little more at Yotel and you can upgrade to a ‘First Class Cabin’ that is a third bigger, with a lounge area, king-sized bed and, if you like, a terrace with a hot-tub. Families travelling with teenagers will fancy the option with an additional sofa bed.
To really bling things up, go for one of Yotel’s VIP two-cabin suites. There’s a rotating king-sized bed and a separate bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom. T he lounge has the obligatory big-screen TV, a kitchenette, Apple Mac and a pumping Bowers and Wilkins sound system. Cleverly, the dining table converts into a billiard table. One of the VIP suites tops things off with its own wrap-around terrace and hot tub.
