Yotel, New York - Hotel Facilities
Just because it’s delivering a more frugal brand of luxury and style doesn’t mean Yotel lacks the things you expect from a proper New York hotel. Far from it. There are plenty of spaces and places to eat, drink, party and exercise. Not to mention one of New York’s most exciting theatres almost at your bedroom door.
If you are staying at Yotel, do have a meal at the Dohyo restaurant on the fourth floor. Named after the sumo wrestling ring, it’s all about Asian Latin cuisine. Chef Richard Sandoval has designed a delicious dinner menu of small plates and sharing dishes. Either sit at an intimate banquette or join in at a communal table. Watch out for the tables that can be lowered for Japanese-style dining.
The terrace at Yotel is pretty massive, dwarfing anything at any other hotel in New York. Of course the views are great, but so is the food and drink on offer. Choose from two bars, cosy fire pits or book yourself a cabana for a bit of privacy. The cocktails, pitchers and sharing plates of Latin Asian food will keep the party flowing. Sunday Brunch is almost always a big draw, so don’t be late.
If you feel like a workout, jog along to the in-house gym. It’s got the full array of all the latest high-tech Technogym equipment so you can get your personal routine up and running with no fuss. You’ll find the gym on the fourth floor next to the club lounge.
The Yotel concept is very high-tech, but designed in a way to make life as easy as possible. So when you arrive there’s airport-style self-service check-in which does away with queuing and delays. Instead of expensive room service, you’ll find a neat galley on each floor where you can pick up hot or cold drinks, and order something delicious from the restaurant. It’s all very user-friendly. Of course, it’s not all automated and self-service at Yo Hotel, there are staff on hand to help you out with any queries or special requests.
Whilst the ‘cabins’ at Yotel are pretty compact, they are purpose-designed to be full of space-saving ideas and the important things you expect. Like proper monsoon showers, super-strength WiFi, a work desk with multi-choice power sockets and a ‘technowall’ with TV and iPod/MP3 connectivity. Sofa, ironing board and iron, hair dryer are all present and correct. To guarantee you a good night’s rest, the windows are designed to cut out the city’s din, whilst the heating and cooling is the quietest around.
