Initial screening

Your application with be initially screened by the Recruitment Team and possibly the Recruiting Manager. Those candidates, whose skills and experience on their CV match the requirements of the role, will be progressed to the next stage of the selection process.

Candidates who are not successful will be advised by email.

For some roles applications may not be reviewed until after the closing date.

Telephone interviews

For all telephone based roles e.g. Travel Sales Consultant or Customer Resolution Consultant, the next stage would be a telephone interview that takes 10-15 minutes to complete. This will take place normally during office hours. Don’t worry if you are unable to talk to us when we call – we always check that you have the time to talk to us and if not, we’ll arrange a suitable time and date to call you back. If you are not available, we’ll leave you a message to contact us.

You’ll then hear from us within 5 days of your telephone interview to let you know if you are through to the interview or assessment stage of the selection process.

Interviews and assessment centres

If you are selected for interview or assessment, we will give you a call to arrange a suitable date and time, and then confirm this to you by email. You will be required to bring certain documents to this stage as proof of UK employment status to comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1995:-

  • Passport – with relevant work permits/visas (if applicable) to show your eligibility to work in the UK.
  • National Insurance Number – NI Card, recent payslip or P45.
  • Proof of Address – recent utility bill or bank statement etc.

Assessment centres are held for some roles and will include various exercises to enable you to demonstrate your skills, rather than just answering questions in an interview. Assessment Centres are held for the role of Travel Sales Consultant, Sales Team Leader and other roles, dependent on the number of positions available. Assessment Centres will always include an interview.

Competency based interviews

All interviews will be competency based, which means we are looking for real examples of tasks you have completed or situations you have dealt with, rather than asking hypothetical questions. This type of questioning gives us a better insight into your skills, as you will be telling us about real situations you have found yourself in and how you have dealt with them.

For example a hypothetical question could be ‘How would you deal with an angry customer?’, whereas a competency based question would be ‘Tell me about a time when you have dealt with an angry customer’.

All interviews and assessments are scored based on strict criteria, so that all candidates are treated fairly. This scoring mechanism gives us a good indication who is the most suitable candidate.

During your interview, you will be given the opportunity to ask the interviewers questions and learn more about the role you are applying for and the company in general.

Your interviewers will advise you when you can expect to hear the outcome of your interview or assessment.

Second interviews

For senior roles, you may be asked to attend a second interview with a Head of Department or Director.

Offers of employment

All offers of employment are subject to pre-employment checks. When you attend an interview or Assessment Centre, you will be asked to provide details of two work related referees covering the last 2 years (5 years for senior roles). It is vital that you provide us will full contact details, as your start date could be postponed if we do not receive your references in time.

After a verbal offer has been made to you, we will follow this up with a formal offer letter and employment contract, along with some other forms for completion, and some company policies for you to read prior to your start day. We ask that you return a signed copy of your contract and required forms prior to your start.

Your first day

Welcome to Netflights!

Your first few days and weeks in the business will very much depend on your role!

All Travel Sales Consultants go through a 3-week induction programme in a training environment, before joining the 'skills zone' in the sales centre. You’ll spend 3-6 weeks in this area, more if necessary, as everyone learns at a different rate. In this area of the sales centre, you will work with dedicated coaches who will help you put into practice what you have learnt in the training environment, as well as talking to our customers. Once your progress is at the required level, you will join your team, reporting into a Sales Team Manager.

For roles within our Operations Team, there is also a classroom based induction course for a week, before joining the department for more ‘on-the-job’ training.

In more senior roles, inductions will be arranged by your Line Manager. This may include some system training, meeting with other members of your team and other departments and managers.
