Bangkok. The Big Mango. The City of Angels. A den of vice, crime, go-go bars and ping pong bats, or, as I prefer to call it, “home”.
Or as much a home as I get these days. Ever since moving here at the tail-end of 2012, with my fully fledged status as a permanent nomad strapped to my handsome bonnet, I’ve seen things most travellers wouldn’t believe. Big wads of cash blown in one foul swoop in posh modern shopping malls? Yep. Alcohol ravaged backpackers stumbling the neon streets of Khao San Road trying to recall details from last nights fornication? You betcha. Throngs of Chinese and Japanese tourists shuffling aimlessly from temple to temple, oohing and aahing in the midst of such splendour? Simply an everyday occurrence in good ol’ Bang Makok (the city’s original name).
And it’s these things I wanted to explore most during my little silver screen sojourn around Thailand’s infamous capital. Trekking around in the boiling tumultuous heat of the day, camera in hand and shades at the ready, is no easy feat. It’s a wonder I managed to stay so well kept and pretty for you all.
So it’s with that I wanted to sign off over on NetFlights.com once again. But not before doing my damn hardest to get you all curious about this crazy city. I hope you enjoy some of the sights, sounds and silent monks that I’ve been subjected to over the last three months.
Bangkok? Undoubtedly a place for the true gonzo. Those in love with the spirit of adventure.
Special thanks to Turner Barr at AroundtheWorldin80Jobs.com for putting up with my diva-like tantrums from behind the camera.
