Toronto: The new home of Romance

By October 3, 2013 No Comments

Every wants a little romance in their lives; from the small things like making the effort to cook your loved one their favourite meal or the grander gestures such as a romantic getaway. If we had to choose, the majority of us would jump at the chance of being whisked away unexpectedly; but where?

There are so many destinations that promise to be full of romantic hot spots, landscapes to die for and an amorous vibe that fills the air, you’ve got your work cut out for you choosing the best place. So why not choose somewhere outside of the usual Paris / Venice romance remit? One place often overlooked is Canada, and with cheap flights to Toronto you can experience a whole new original and unforgettable type of romance.

Unusual Choice

Throughout of our lives we’ve been taught where romance lives through film, television and literature.

We have Paris where Carrie and Big finally got together in Sex and the City. It was also the setting for Casablanca, often regarded the most romantic film of all time. The fact the film was called Casablanca has gives the Moroccan city a sweeping sense of romance that still exists today.

With this in mind, Toronto may not seem like the most conventional choice, but you don’t need a film title or movie stars to create romance, which Canada’s ‘Queen City’ will show you.

A whole new romance

With a host of glamorous hotels and spas, offering first class treatments and activities; Toronto will instantly relax and rejuvenate you – and that’s even before you’ve immersed yourself in the vibrancy of the city.

Dine out at the 360 restaurant, located near the top of one of Canada’s most famous sights, the 533 metre CN Tower. It takes an hour to turn, at which point you would have experienced the best view in Toronto (including the city skyline and Lake Ontario) – pretty romantic for an evening meal.

If it’s peaceful self-made romance you want, then check out the Toronto Islands. As no cars are allowed on the islands, you can explore their serenity by foot or bicycle and adventure around secluded picnic spots. Or you can take a trip around the beautiful lagoon system on a rented boat.

You can even take a trip back in time at the Polson Pier driving range. Although it’s home to golf during the day, by night it’s North America’s largest drive-in cinema, where you can feel like you’ve jumped straight into a romantic Hollywood film.

Don’t forget to experience the various foods for some world romance underneath the elegant Toronto skyline. With 49% of the city’s population born outside Canada, you can experience food from places like Greece, Italy and China all the way to Jamaica, Japan, Poland and Portugal among many others.

So for a different and breath taking trip, with a romance overload, set foot in Toronto for an experience you’ll hold dear forever.
