Brisbane - Getting Around
Brisbane’s public transport service – TransLink – provides a fast, efficient and pleasant way to get around the city.
The system allows travel on ferries, buses and trains (though note that ferry travel is currently suspended due to the recent floods.) Brisbane has 23 travel zones, though you’ll find most of the tourist destinations are within Zones 1-3.
You can buy tickets in advance, or in some cases on the vehicle. Alternatively, buy a ‘go’ card - an electronic ticket which allows discounted fares – at hundreds of locations across the city.

City loop
If you want to get the measure of Brisbane, a great free way to travel is the Brisbane City Loop, running every ten minutes between 7am and 6pm. Hop on at the red bus stops and travel from such destinations as Queensland University of Technology to Central Station in just a few minutes. There is also the Spring Hill loop, which stops at yellow bus stops, which will get you to the CBD and Spring Hill area.
Citysights Bus
For a stress free sightseeing trip with information provided take the Citysights Bus. Tickets cost $35 for an adult ticket and $20 for a child and sights include the Maritime Museum, the South Bank and the Cultural Centre. You’ll also receive an informed commentary from your driver.
For green ways to get around, why not opt for Green Cabs – these rickshaws can be found at the South Bank and operate on weekends and holidays. Prices start at $5 per adult.

Taxis
Yellow Cabs and Black & White Cabs can be hailed in the streets when their lights are on and all accept cash, credit and debit cards. Pick ups are from $2.70 and journeys cost around $1.87 per kilometre thereafter. After 7pm the base rate is $4, rising to $6 after midnight.
