Flying to Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is a short distance from the city centre and easy to navigate, even after a ten-hour flight from London. Vancouver International Airport is as modern as the rest of the city and has won multiple awards.

On arrival and getting around Vancouver Airport (YVR)

There are two terminals at Vancouver International Airport, one for international flights and one for domestic flights. Use the free Wi-Fi to stay on track, although the airport should be easily navigable – even for the most sleep-deprived of travellers – due to the airport's award-winning design. For people with disabilities, it is important to note that Vancouver International Airport is one of the most accessible airports in the world. Be on the lookout for Green Coat Ambassadors, local volunteers who are willing to help you find all the information you need for your stay in Vancouver.

Getting to the city from the airport

Travelling between the airport and the city centre is easy with only nine miles separating the two. For about $35, a 45-minute taxi ride will get you downtown and introduce you to the city's skyline along the way. Taking the train, however, is often cheaper and quicker. The Canada Line of Vancouver’s SkyTrain metropolitan rail system connects the airport with the city centre. It costs about $10 per person and takes just 25 minutes, making it the most budget-friendly option.
