Getting to the city from LAX
LAX has several transportation options readily available for travelling into the city. The airport is conveniently located near Aviation Station on the green line of the Los Angeles metro rail system. It costs around $1.75 to use the rail line (price subject to change), in addition to transfers as long as it’s within 2 hours. Along the way, you’ll see the Watts Tower and the downtown skyscrapers in the distance, in particular the new Wilshire Grand – the tallest tower in the western United States. LAX also has several public bus stops nearby, including the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Culver City Bus Lines and the Torrance Transit Line. Bus fares cost around $1, except for the Big Blue Bus which is slightly more expensive. This bus line will take you to the beach and Santa Monica pier.
Another option is the LAX FlyAway bus service, which stops off in Hollywood, Long
Beach, Van Nuys, Westwood and Union Station (downtown). Depending on your destination, ticket prices will range from $8 to $10. The trip takes about 45 minutes and services run for 24 hours. You’ll want to stop right in the heart of Hollywood where the starry streets of the Walk of Fame is, and near the old historic Olvera Street along the way.
In addition to the options available at the airport, Los Angeles also has several public buses and rail services available throughout the city.
