How does ATOL differ from ABTA?
Some ABTA members offer additional financial protection for non-ATOL products. ABTA members are governed by ABTA’s Code of Conduct, under which you will receive high service standards before, during and after booking your holiday.
Did you know?
If you book a flight & hotel/car hire separately, but through the same company and within 24 hours of each other, you are ATOL protected - this is known as a Flight-plus holiday.

Hotels in Shanghai

At you can discover your perfect hotel in Shanghai and prepare to visit this vibrant Chinese city.

Book your hotel in Shanghai

The city is essentially split into two sections, with the Huangpu River forming a natural divide between the west, Puxi, and the east, Pudong. Puxi is the historic centre of Shanghai, and known more for its older buildings, while Pudong is a more recently developed business area that offers plenty in the way of new high-rise development.

First time visitors to Shanghai are often advised to stay in the Puxi area, which is where the greater concentration of tourists is to be found, and you may find it a little easier to get by with only speaking English. The area is very large though, and narrowing down your options to those within the Zhongshan inner ring road will keep you very central in the city.

The Bund and Nanjing East Road are popular among tourists, with a great variety of accommodation to be found at either end of the price scale. The area features western conveniences such as chain restaurants that can be found the world over, which some travellers may welcome for their base that can be used to explore the city.

Xintiandi and Huangpu are also popular places to stay, but whichever area you go for, try and secure a location close to a subway station, which will make getting around the city and exploring what Shanghai has to offer more convenient.
