Romantic City Breaks 2019
There’s something undoubtedly romantic about flying off together to explore a new city. Leave the world behind and spend some real quality time with your loved one. Leisurely meals, some very special accommodation and romantic settings all make for a truly memorable city break.
Probably the number one destination for romance, Paris sets a mood like few other places on earth. Nothing quite beats a moonlit walk along the Seine, or the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower with the city sprawled beneath. Boat trips on the Seine and an absolute feast of art await too. Not to mention the wonderful food that Paris is famous for across the globe.
For a real Parisian hotel experience, try Intercontinental’s Le Grand Hotel, in a prime location for attractions like the Louvre Museum. The George Opera Hotel is another chic choice. Or, perfectly set on the banks of the Seine, try Citadines La Defense Apart’Hotel.
Another city that sets romantic hearts beating is the fabled ‘city that never sleeps’. New York is big, bold, beautiful and packed with everything that will make your stay outstanding in every way. Hire bikes for a ride through Central Park, or ice-skate in winter at the Rockerfeller Center as the lights twinkle. There are fantastic bars and restaurants with the best range of world cuisines in any city on earth, and the shopping is legendary.
Choose a cosy boutique hotel for your stay, or plump for real traditional New York-style at Manhattan’s legendary Waldorf Astoria - elegant and historic. The Ritz Carlton is another beautifully renovated 1930s building, with stunning views over Central Park

Venice is another lovely, very romantic city. A gondola ride is a unique way to explore this ancient place, with its landmarks like the Piazza San Marco and its much-loved 100 metre bell tower, worth the climb for the views. Keep it truly romantic by staying at the Manin Hotel, located in an old Palace, on the banks of the Grand Canal. Rather more modern is the Laguna Palace.
Barcelona is another hot favourite for romance. Modern in outlook, but with plenty of strong Catalan traditions, not to mention fabulous food, Barcelona is great almost all-year-round. Allegedly, the most romantic place in the city is the Placa Sant Felip Neri, where Scarlett Johnasson and Rebecca Hall had lunch in Woody Allen’s ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’. In the heart of the city’s Barri Gothic district, this quiet haven in the city is well worth a visit with your partner.
Of course, if you fancy flying a little further than Europe, the world is full of romance. For example, there’s glittering Dubai, exotic Thailand, or the beach havens of Mauritius or the Maldives.
Wherever you choose for your romantic city break, close to Europe or further afield, make sure you keep an eye on the offers that appear regularly on our website at Netflights.com.
