Las Vegas, the city where everything comes on a grand scale, from its gambling and lighting to its show-stopping performers, nothing is understated.
This includes the prices for many of its restaurants. But amongst the glitzy showbiz landscape and general extravagance, you can find amazing places serving up delicious food at affordable prices. No matter what time of day, you’re guaranteed to find a cheap spot; you can even eat at the pricier haunts at a steal, if you know when to check them out.
To give you a helping hand, here are some our favourite places to eat; so you won’t have to tighten those purse strings for the remainder of your Las Vegas holiday.
The cheapest places to eat in Las Vegas
Main Street Casino
Located in downtown Las Vegas, this buffet at the Main Street Casino known as the Garden Court Buffet, is one of the cheaper around and doesn’t compromise on taste. Offering everything from pizza, Mexican and Asian delights to rotisserie chicken, prime rib, seafood and T-Bone steaks, diners are spoilt for choice. Open for brunch with a limited dinner option, Garden Court Buffet is a great choice for families as children under 10 eat half price (and meals are free for under threes!)
Pop Up Pizza
There’s nothing better than biting into a delicious crunchy crust covered in the perfect combination of toppings and a mountainous dose of gooey cheese; let’s face it, pizza is the best. In downtown Las Vegas you’ll come across the amazing pop up pizza, home to a variety of toppings from pepperoni and meatballs to eggplant, roasted mushroom and Italian sausage. Although the whole pizza may be a little pricey, you can get a delicious slice. Also, sample the parmesan garlic fries; they’re out of this world.
Earl of Sandwich
Although not cheap-cheap, you can dine here for a reasonably priced, tastier alternative to the usual burger and fries you’d get for the same price. With various hot sandwiches, wraps and green salads all made fresh alongside delicious soups, baked goods, drinks and even breakfast – you really can’t go wrong here. However it’s the sandwiches you need to sample with everything from tuna melts and Hawaiian BBQ, to chicken and avocado as well as holiday turkey; they even do a kids selection.
Open-all-night eateries
Sterling Spoon Café
Found at the Silver Sevens Hotel and Casino, and decorated in beautiful flagstone and bougainvillea flowers, the diner is open 24/7 and seats 175 people. With a menu boasting breakfast options and everything from American and Mexican to Chinese, this place is perfect for the end of the night. Between the hours of 11pm and 7am you’ll find amazing cheap eats like spaghetti and meatballs, half a roast chicken, pork chops, chicken fried steak and sirloins.
Ellis Island
When the 2am munchies hit, the café at the Ellis Island Casino & Brewery offers up excellent late night treats that won’t break the bank. From 11pm to 11am during the week and until 2pm on the weekend, a night of merry drinking can be rounded off with a delicious breakfast treat. Get any style eggs with breakfast potatoes and toast for $4, bacon, sausage and eggs for $6 or ham, steak and eggs for $7 – it’s everything you could want at the end of the night.
Cheap restaurants in Las Vegas
Payard Patisserie & Bistro
Located at Caesars Palace, this may not be the hotel you would associate with having a cheap dining option. Whilst perusing the hotel you’ll no doubt notice the patisserie, stocked with elegant and delicious looking pastries that sit next to sumptuous chocolates. Hiding behind this is a bistro that seats 40, where you can grab a delicious season prix-fixe lunch between the hours of 11:30am and 2:30pm. Serving three courses, pick from edible delights like sea bass over ratatouille, shrimp romesco and impeccably roasted poussin, amongst other tasty treats.
Estiatorio Milos
You’ll find this delicious Greek restaurant at the Cosmopolitan; often cited as one of the finest Greek restaurants in North America. Although this restaurant is one of the more upscale venues by night, during the day it tells a completely different story. Open seven days a week, lunchtime falls from 12pm – 3:45pm, where you can choose from nine appetisers, six mains and three desserts, and still receive the fine dining treatment.
