It’s a perfect island paradise at Universal Volcano Bay – well, sort of. There is a 200-foot volcano called Krakatau here, after all. There’s 4 villages to float your way through, from the chill tropical lagoon of Wave Village to the choppy waters of the River Village. Face the ancient fiery spirit, Vol, as you seek mega thrills on gravity-defying plunges and some of the fastest water slides you’ve ever seen. Prepare to get drenched.

Relaxation AND Exhilaration

Rainforest Village is designed to immerse you in the beauty and tranquillity of a tropical rainforest. Think lush landscaping, cabanas, and exotic flora and fauna. It’s filled with the sounds of flowing water and birdsong, creating a mega calming atmosphere.
There’s river rapids and raft rides here (drop slides too!), plus a lagoon to kick back in after all that adrenaline. Need a snack? Get some island goodness at Bambu and The Feasting Frog.

Puihi of the Maku Puihi Round Raft Rides
These twin raft rides (they’re big, and fit 6 people) are like the yin and yang of water slides. Maku sends you spinning through high-banked saucers, while Puihi drops you into dark tunnels and funnels before a final plunge. Think of it as a water-based rollercoaster, minus the tracks and with more screaming.
Taniwha Tubes
Taniwha, in Polynesian lore, are mischievous water spirits, and they run this joint. There’s four different slides, each with different coloured tracks. They’re all slightly different – some faster, some twistier, some wetter – like a choose-your-own-adventure, but with more splashing.
You can ride as a single or as a duo, and you should expect random sprayers, sneaky jet blasts, and sudden drops designed to soak you when you least expect it.
TeAwa The Fearless River
Forget lazy rivers – this is a wildly fun, rapid-driven current that requires you to wear a life jacket. You’ll float through rapids, sudden drops, and even mini-wave machines that catch you completely off guard. It weaves around a huge part of Rainforest Village too and is mega addicting. Like, “I-did-it-11-times-before-lunch” addicting.
Ohyah of the Ohyah & Ohno Drop Slide
These two slides are perched high up on a cliff, and to get to them you’ll have to climb a winding staircase first. Ohyah is the ‘easier’ of the two tube rides, dropping you off a platform four feet above the landing pool. Ohno, meanwhile, ramps up the fun with a plummeting drop of six feet before splashdown.
Puka Uli Lagoon
Puka Uli Lagoon is a zero-entry pool (meaning you can just wander in like you’re starring in a shampoo commercial). It’s smaller than Waturi Beach, the big wave pool, but it has its own charm like underwater bongo drums (yes, you read that right) you can actually play and random water jets for splashing. It’s the spot for little kids and chill adults.
Dining
at Volcano Bay Rainforest Village

The Feasting Frog
This charming, amphibian-shaped eatery nestled in the heart of Rainforest Village has a vibrant design and lots of patio seating, making it a great spot to grab a bite between water rides. Enjoy everything from nachos to poke bowls, and wash it all down with some good old fountain sodas or a cold beer.
Bambu
Bambu is a quick-service eatery designed to resemble a traditional island hut, complete with a thatched roof and open-air seating. Try the mouth-watering Bambu Burger or chicken salad, and enjoy drinks like tropical smoothies, fountain sodas, and draught beers.
Kunuku Boat Bar
Resembling a beached canoe and named for the mythical fish that guided the Waturi islanders to Volcano Bay, Kanuku Boat Bar is all about frozen drinks and speciality cocktails, like the Volcano Bay Rum Punch (Bacardi rums, fresh pineapple juice, and grenadine, topped with Bacardi Black) and the Ko’okiri Plunge (Corazon Blanco Tequila, fresh tamarind juice, and lime juice).
River Village
Let your worries drift away

River Village has a lovely and relaxed vibe to it, fab for younger children. Think calm waters and plenty of spots to kick back and soak up the sun. But there’s loads to get up to in this area of the park too – from gentle rides to playful water zones, as well as more thrill-inducing stuff like raft rides with twisting turns and mega splashes.

Kopiko Wai Winding River
Now this is a lazy river. Not just a loop with water, it’s a gentle journey through a tropical dreamscape. The pace is slow here, and the scenery takes centre stage. ou’ll drift through lush landscapes, under cascading waterfalls, and into the mystical Stargazer’s Cavern – a hidden grotto inside the Krakatau volcano that reveals a twinkling night sky, even in the middle of the day.
There’s no height requirement, making it perfect for families – but do note that children under 48 inches are required to wear a life jacket. The river is also a handy (and fun) way to navigate the park, getting you from one attraction to another.
Runamukka Reef
This isn’t just a splash zone; it’s a vibrant, multi-level aquatic playground designed to ignite the imaginations of young Waturi adventurers. Once an exotic underwater coral reef, Runamukka Reef has emerged as a favorite play place for young Waturi children. It’s adorned with bubbling geysers, water guns, slides, and dump cups, all shaded by fanciful bamboo sea creatures and waving seaweed.
Honu of the Honu ika Moana
A dynamic duo of water slides at Universal’s Volcano Bay that promise both thrills and splashes in equal measure. Climb aboard a five-passenger raft and prepare for a heart-pounding journey on Honu – a blue slide that propels riders up two massive, sloped walls before plunging back down.
For a more relaxed adventure, Ika Moana offers a green slide experience that’s perfect for families and younger guests. You’ll glide along in a five-passenger raft, enjoying gentle twists and turns, with water spraying from the center to mimic a whale’s blowhole.

Whakawaiwai Eats
This quick-service eatery serves up a menu brimming with island-inspired dishes, perfect for refuelling between adventures. Try the Island BBQ Chicken Pizza, Specialty Foot-Long Hot Dogs on Pretzel Buns, Jerk Shrimp Mac & Cheese, and way more.
Wave Village
Peaceful with a side of volcano

Wave Village is the heart of the park and home to some of its major players. It’s the first village you encounter upon entering Universal’s Volcano Bay, and it’s like the welcoming committee of this tropical water wonderland.
It surrounds the majestic Krakatau Volcano and features the stunning Waturi Beach, a picturesque white sand beach with a massive wave pool, all gentle swells and thrilling waves. It’s also home to some of the park’s best rides too.

Kohola Reef Restaurant & Social Club
This quick-service restaurant is an airy escape at the base of Krakatua volcano, with super creative island faves like tangy Mango BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Coconut Crusted Fried Chicken, and Guava Tapioca Pudding. It’s right by the lagoon too, so you can sit back and listen to the water lapping as you dine. Lovely.
Dancing Dragons Boat Bar
Like Kanuku Boat Bar, this cool canteen is also shaped like an ancient outrigger canoe that’s beached up on shore. The menu is similar too, with lots of frozen drinks and tropical cocktails to cool you down whilst you dig your toes in the sand.
Krakatoa Katy’s
Situated on the pristine sands of Waturi Beach, Krakatoa Katy’s is stocked with essentials and souvenirs, including all-important sun protection, swimwear and clothing and loads of fun accessories and souvenirs too, like surfboard keychains, Volcano Bay-branded hoodies, and T-shirts.
Waturi Marketplace
This is your main shopping destination at Universal Volcano Bay, and you’ll find it right near the park’s entrance. It’s actually made of two distinct shops too: Bikini Tiki, catering to women’s beachwear, and Tuku Tuku Traders, offering apparel and accessories for men and children.
It’s basically designed to be a handy spot to provide you with everything you might need for a day at the water park, whether you’ve forgot an item or are after some souvenirs.
The Volcano
This is where the fun erupts

At the centre of Universal Volcano Bay stands the awe-inspiring Krakatau Volcano, the towering 200-foot-tall icon that defines the park’s skyline. This man-made marvel isn’t just for looks—it’s a fully immersive attraction packed with thrilling water rides and beautiful tropical theming. By day, the volcano’s cascading waterfalls create a tranquil and picturesque backdrop, while by night, it transforms into a glowing spectacle with fiery lava effects that give it an almost mythical presence.
And inside Krakatau, you’ll find some of Volcano Bay’s most exciting rides, from a twisting coaster to body slides and body plunges.
Attractions
at The Volcano

Krakatau Aqua Coaster
This groundbreaking water coaster takes you right through the heart of the volcano itself. You and 3 mates will board canoes that are propelled uphill using something fancy called ‘linear induction motor’ (LIM) technology – a first for water coasters. You’ll wind through the mists and into the dark twists and turns within the volcano before emerging with a plunge through a shimmering waterfall.
Punga Racers
For Waturi children, one of the best loved legendary heroes is Punga, the playful son of Tangaroa, god of the sea and Mahuika, goddess of fire. On Punga Racers, single riders shoot on a body slide down four lanes through underwater sea caves.
Each of the four lanes offers a unique path, with varying twists and turns. Some lanes, like the orange one, feature open sections, while others are fully enclosed. You’ll launch yourself feet-first, racing side by side with a mate through the serpentine slides. At the finish line, the first to emerge is greeted with a celebratory water spray – a playful salute from Punga himself.
Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides
At the summit of Krakatau, you’ll step into one of two enclosed capsules – Kala (the blue slide) or Tai Nui (the green slide). After a brief countdown, the floor beneath you suddenly drops, beginning a free-fall descent through 124-foot-long tubes. The slides’ translucent design allows natural light to filter in, enhancing the sensation of speed and disorientation as you twist and turn before splashing into the pool below.
Ko’okiri Body Plunge
One of the most adrenaline-fueling attractions at Universal Volcano Bay, this high-thrill body slide plunges you from the heights of the 200-foot Krakatau volcano. First you’ll step into a transparent capsule, then – after a jelly-leg-inducing countdown – the floor beneath you suddenly drops, kick-starting your near-vertical descent where you’ll plummet 125 feet at a 70-degree angle before splashdown into the pool below. Woah.
TapuTapu
What is it?

When you arrive at Volcano Bay, you’ll receive a TapuTapu to wear on your wrist, and it’s your key to a seamless experience.
The virtual queue hero
Gone are the days of waiting in endless lines under the scorching sun. With TapuTapu, you simply tap your wristband at a totem near the ride entrance to reserve your spot in a virtual line. Your wristband will vibrate and display a message when it’s your turn to ride, allowing you to explore the park or relax until then. Note: You can only hold one virtual line reservation at a time.
Interactive fun around the park
TapuTapu isn’t just for rides; it’s also your key to hidden surprises throughout Volcano Bay. Activate water cannons, illuminate hidden images, or trigger playful effects by tapping your wristband at designated spots. It’s like a scavenger hunt, but with more splashes and fewer maps.
Hassle-free storage
Say goodbye to locker keys and remembering combinations. Rent a locker and access it with a simple tap of your TapuTapu. You can even link up to four wristbands to the same locker, making it convenient for families or groups.
Snaps secured
Tap your wristband at designated photo spots, and your pictures will be linked to your Universal account.
