Last Minute Christmas & New Years Holidays
You know the feeling; the end of the year is grinding closer, the weather is miserable and the thought of Christmas sounds too much like hard work. Little wonder more and more people are celebrating Christmas and New Year away from home, often at the last moment.
There are plenty of destinations just a flight away, and with a little thought and flexibility you can make up your mind closer to the departure date than you think. Then, you can swap cold weather for something truly summery and enjoy all the differences in festive celebrations in other parts of the world too. How about a beach barbecue for your Christmas dinner? And no washing up either!
Dubai is a real contender, especially if you are keen on some late Christmas shopping. With the greatest concentration of malls on earth, 70 plus, you certainly will find that special something. Even for the person who has everything. The Dubai Mall is pretty impressive. Besides being the biggest, it boasts an indoor ski slope and some fearsome creatures in the Shark Aquarium.
Away from retail therapy, Dubai has plenty of child-friendly beaches and theme parks, as well as other adventures: sand skiing, camel riding and 4x4 desert safaris.

Christmas in Disneyland is always magical. Spectacular decorations, 60ft Christmas trees, twinkling lights by the thousands, and lots of special fireworks are all part of the show. There’s Santa, of course, as well as a Christmas fantasy parade with a cast of familiar Disney characters celebrating. With so much going on, it pays to get your tickets online, reserve restaurant meals ahead of time and use special services such as RideMax and FastPass to avoid the queues for the rides.
An Australian Christmas (and New Year, for that matter) is all about the summer sun and the great outdoors. ‘Chrissy’ down-under is full of barbies, celebrating on the beach or by the pool. A cruise around Sydney Harbour is a lovely Christmas Day treat, with plenty to eat and drink of course. On Boxing Day, you can stay close to the water to watch the racing yachts jostle for position at the start of the world famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
If the beach is your priority, the soft white sands of the Caribbean are many people’s idea of a Christmas paradise. Not the cheapest of destinations, but always memorable.

Last Minute Tips!
Calling the Netflights Travel Team is a great way to find the best last minute deals on Christmas and New Year’s travel – they can check the live departure times and prices to your desired destination, saving you the time and stress of scouring the internet for the best deal! To speak to a Netflights travel advisor, call 01772 386386.
Going last minute might also mean choosing less popular routes, airports, and flight times. Sometimes you can get a real bargain by travelling on Christmas day itself, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve or the 1st of January.
Do be well prepared for your last-minute getaway too. That means passports, insurance and any other paper work must be up to date and easy to find. Pre-packing your luggage, or at least having a list of essentials to follow, will minimise any panic. With your mind at rest, you can focus on the prospect of a festive season break that will refresh and recharge your batteries, ready for the New Year.
