Where are the world's best waterparks?

Orlando, of course! This theme park mecca boasts a whopping 7 waterparks to get stuck into, from Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, to Universal's Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando, and the futuristic Island H20. Plus, loads of the hotels get in on the fun too, with many having their own waterparks right outside the front door. Easy!

Dubai is determined to give Orlando a run for its money though, and is the pretty proud owner of the world's biggest waterpark, Aquaventure at Atlantis, The Palm, as well as Wild Wadi waterpark at Jumeriah Hotels and Resorts, set right against that iconic skyline. It's also home to the world's largest inflatable waterpark on Jumeirah Beach, too.

Beyond that, there are tons of other waterparks in breath-taking destinations across the world to discover. There's Yas Waterworld, the largest waterpark in Abu Dhabi, and Aquaventure at Atlantis, the Caribbean's largest waterpark... we're sensing a theme here! That said, there are bucketloads of great waterparks that haven't broken any records and they're still tons of fun. Waterpark holidays are designed with extensive waterpark access in mind - though as you'd expect, how much access you get depends on a couple of things:

  • If the waterpark is attached to the hotel, chances are you can spend all day, every day amongst the slides and attractions. Do check before you book, though!
  • Oh... did we mention that we sell attraction tickets?
  • If the waterpark is close by, you'll need tickets for access but they may be included as part of your holiday deal, or you might be able to snag some for a discount price that's not available on the gate.

How to Book a Waterpark Holiday

Chances are, you'll want the waterpark that's best suited to your group, along with a destination that tickles your fancy too. We'll help you get started, our waterpark holidays are primarily based in Orlando, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the Caribbean, and Spain. So if that's where you've set your sights, we've got you covered.

Next, decide if you want to stay in a hotel that has a waterpark built into it, or whether you want to stay a stone's throw away in a hotel that includes tickets to the closest waterpark(s). There's quite a bit of overlap there, and you are pretty spoilt for choice!

Orlando Waterparks

Massive slides and thrilling rides

Typhoon Lagoon, Walt Disney World


Themed around the story of a fictional typhoon that wreaked havoc on a tropical paradise, Typhoon Lagoon, Walt Disney World is all about shipwrecks, surfboards and lush scenery. Think: lazy rivers, raft rides, and one of the biggest wave pools in the USA (6-feet high crests!)

Psst: there's even a saltwater lagoon where you can snorkel alongside marine life.

Volcano Bay, Universal Studios


The literal centre of the show here is - you guessed it - the great big volcano (now we get why they called it Volcano Bay!) that overlooks the park's more than 30 rides and attractions. From the more relaxed Puka Uli Lagoon and Waturi Beach to the Ko'okiri Body Plunge - only for the brave!

Plus, say bye-bye to waiting in line - thanks to your TapuTapu wristband it's all done virtually now. That means less queuing, more time in the lazy river.

Island H2O, Orlando


Island H2O is Orlando’s newest and most futuristic water park. Jammed to the hilt with high-tech features like virtual queues and personalised ride experiences, this waterpark is designed with social sharing in mind. Get your phone out (but make sure it's waterproof first!)

Blizzard Beach, Walt Disney World


Blizzard Beach, the ski-themed waterpark is a Walt Disney World classic, home to the famous Mount Gushmore, the thrilling Summit Plummet (a world record breaker when it first opened, way back in 1995!) and child-friendly activities aplenty.

Legoland Water Park

LEGO bricks and a water playground? Yes please! LEGOLAND waterpark in Orlando brings tons of activities for kids of all ages to get stuck into. Build your own LEGO watercraft and take it for a spin along the lazy river or try out your cannonball skills. Dive down 14 different slides and splash around in the wading pools and climbing areas.

Adventure Island, Tampa

Located a little further afield in Tampa, opposite Busch Gardens, Adventure Island is 30 acres of thrilling waterslides, interactive attractions, surfing pools and so much more. And you can upgrade to Quick Queue to whizz right to the front of your favourite slides. Right - grab a tube and we'll see you in one of the many pools!

Wild Wadi Waterpark

On the doorstep of Dubai's Jumeirah hotels, Wild Wadi is jam-packed with slides, thrills and splashes for all ages. It's sure to be a hit with children of all ages!

AquaFun Water Park

Say hello to the world's largest inflatable water park. Would you expect it anywhere else?! Climb, run, and throw yourselves over a vast array of obstacles against the scenic backdrop of Jumeirah Beach.
