Hands down, the best place to stay when enjoying Walt Disney World is at one of the Resort Hotels. Handily divided into 3 categories, there's one to fit each budget. Trust us, you can’t beat the convenience of popping back to your hotel for a kip after lunch or a cooling dip if you’ve come in the summer months. Then you’re straight back out there for more, often crowd free, thanks to Extra Magic Hours, whereby the parks open or close an hour early just for resort guests – that’s you, or it could be, if you choose to stay at one of the places below.

Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Close to Disney's Hollywood Studios (reached via bus or Skyliner), Disney's Art of Animation Resort has animation running right through it. Pick from either a Little Mermaid Standard Room or splurge on a themed Family Suite - think Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. Landscape of Flavours is your port of call for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and then it's off to The Big Blue Pool for a bit of a splash. And don't miss Movies Under the Stars!
Disney's Pop Century Resort
This resort tips a hat to all the fashions, catch-phrases, toys, and dances that were all the rage from the 50s to the 90s. Close to Disney's Hollywood Studios, Standard Rooms sleep up to 4 adults. There are 3(!) pools to choose from: the Hippy Dippy, Bowling, and Computer Pool. Top tip: if you love trivia, this is the place for you - try and spot all the posters to be found around the resort.
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort
Think whimsical, larger than life decor and nods to Disney legends. Yep, giant Pongo and Perdita included. Close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, reached via bus, the standard rooms at All-Star Movies Resort sleep up to 4 adults. Grab a bite from the food court, for those late-night cravings after the Parks. Oh, and did we mention the pools?
Disney's All-Star Music Resort
Paying homage to a variety of music genres with some song and dance surprises inside, All-Star Music Resort is close to to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and sleeps up to 4 adults in a Standard Room. Splurge on a Family Suite and you'll be able to sleep up to 6! There's a food court, pool bar, campfire activities... even an arcade! And don't forget the iconic Piano Pool.
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort
It's all about the world of competitive sports at this resort, close to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and sleeping up to 4 adults. There's a food court and two pools, as well as walking and jogging trails for those who want to keep extra active. Head to the Sport Goofy shop for gifts and souvenirs, or take part in one of the pool activities on offer, from tie-dye to bingo.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter
Romance. Jazz. The pageantry of New Orlean's French Quarter. Are you picturing it yet? Located near Disney Springs, you can take an elegant King Bed Room (sleeps 2) or 2 Queen Beds Room (sleeps 4), and head down to the colourful Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for something eat. Then it's time for a dip in the Doubloon Lagoon. Or a guided fishing excursion. Or a bike rental. Or a Movie Under the Stars...
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside
Let's set the scene: rural Louisiana, stately white-column mansions, and quaint backwoods cottages. Near to Disney Springs, you have a bunch of accommodation options available, from a King Bed Room (sleeps 2), all the way to Fifth Sleeper (sleeps 5!). Set in beautiful grounds, Riverside offers the best scenery for a slow walk along the Sassagoula River. Like its sister resort, but we think Riverside is more elegant, making it perfect for the grown-ups.
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort
Stay here and you'll get a blend of Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American cultures with a bit of a Disney touch. Close to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you can go from Standard Room (sleeps 4) all the way to the Casitas-Executive Suite, which can sleep 8! But that's not all. With the addition of the new Gran Destino Tower there's even more options, sleeping from 2 to 6 adults. There's a whopping 10 dining options too, from quick service to themed restaurants. Get exploring in The Lost City of Cibola Pool, take part in the Colors of Coronado Painting Experience, or sweat it out at the La Vida Health Club Fitness Centre. And that's not even everything...
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
It's all about relaxation here, with a blend of 5 Caribbean islands: Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad, and Aruba. Play it simple and take a Standard Room (sleeps 2-4) or indulge your playful side and check-in to a Pirate-Themed Room (sleeps 4). Close to Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can grab a snack at the Centertown Market Grab & Go and then come back to Sebastian's Bistro for dinner (under the sea...). There's a leisure pool for each island and a shipwreck water play area. What more do you need? Well, if you're curious, there's also a Sand Volleyball Court and Guided Fishing Excursions on offer. Great for kids and adults alike.
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and The Campground
This is the place to be if you want something tucked away with less of a classic resort feel. Evoking the timeless beauty of the American frontier, you can expect to bump into some deer, rabbits, ducks, and even armadillos here! Nestled within 750 acres of pine and cypress forest, there's woodland trails and pool areas. You've got 4 camping types to pick from, accommodating everything from tents to 45 foot RVs. Near to Magic Kingdom Park, The Campsites is classed as a Moderate Resort, but it's a little bit unique and really deserves a category of its own. Oh, and the best part? Subject to certain conditions, you can bring your pets along! (Just so you know, pets are allowed at Riverside too). We know where we're going...

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
An iconic resort, Disney's Grand Floridian is known and adored for its Victorian elegance - think rugs, marble flooring, and chandeliers - with a dash of modern sophistication. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Magic Kingdom Park, there are four room levels to play with: Outer Building Rooms, Club Level Rooms, Suites, and Deluxe Villas. Citricos and Narcoossee's offer a fine dining option for guests, with two pool bars for quick snacks. The Beach Pool features an Alice in Wonderland play area for the kids and cabana rentals for the adults, whilst the Courtyard Pool has a Hot Tub. For something extra fancy, Disney's Grand Floridian also offers Specialty Firework Cruises. Oo-er.
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
Coated in its signature tropical atmosphere and themed around a South Pacific Island, this resort - known affectionately as the Poly - is a proper guest favourite. Close to Magic Kingdom Park, there are 8(!) room options, from Standard to your own private bungalow. Get breakfast from 'Ohana, and then after a long day exploring the parks come back for a late night dinner at Capt. Cook's. The Lava Pool boasts a volcano and waterfall, whilst the Oasis Pool lets you order food and drinks straight to your chair. Nice one. If you get bored of lounging around you can rent a motorised pontoon boat or enjoy a Fireworks Cruise. All aboard!
Disney's Yacht Club Resort
In the style of a New England yacht club, expect an elegant ambience with a touch of the nautical here. In this neck of the woods you'll also find EPCOT. You've got 5 room options to play with, from Standard (sleeps 5) to their fancy Signature Suites with Club Level Access (sleeps 6 - 8). There's fine dining as well as more casual places to eat at, from Yachtsman Steakhouse to Cape May Cafe to Martha's Vineyard. There's 2 pools at Yacht Club to splash in, but you'll also have access to another 2 at Disney's Beach Club Resort! But if you want to stay dry you can rent a boat, play tennis, try out the mini-golf, or lounge in a cabana.
Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas
Pretend you're at Coney Island with this turn-of-the-century Atlantic City-style waterfront property. Close to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can stay in a Standard Room (sleeps 2 - 5) or go all-out with a Deluxe Grand Villa which can sleep up to 12. Take your pick from Italian, Mexican, or good ol' American grub and cool off in one of the 3 pools. With a whopping 5 shops on the property you won't struggle to find a gift or souvenir. If you want to stretch your legs then you can't go wrong with a stroll around the BoardWalk with a pit stop at BoardWalk Ice Cream.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Inspired by turn-of-the-century National Parks found in the rustic majesty of America's Great Northwest, it's all about the natural splendour of the outdoors here. Tucked away but still close to Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Wilderness Lodge has a legendary lobby that turns into something proper special come Christmas. You can stay in either a Standard Room (sleeps 2 - 4), a Disney Deluxe Villa (sleeps 5 - 8), or even in a traditional log cabin! There's 2 pools, campfire activities, movies under the stars, signature crafts, and guided fishing excursions. With some of the best grounds at Walt Disney World Resort, even something as simple as a walk takes on a whole new meaning here.
Disney's Contemporary Resort
In a word, Disney's Contemporary Resort is, well, contemporary. Miles away in terms of style and atmosphere from the other resorts, Contemporary's ultra-modern feel and views of the iconic monorail makes it a favourite for a heck of a lot of people. You can take a Standard or Club Level room in the Contemporary Resort or try out a Studio or Villa at Bay Lake Tower. There are 10 dining options, from fine to casual, and 3 pools. Take to the water on a Specialty Cruise or sweat it out on the basketball, tennis, or volleyball court. And don't forget to sample the 15 layers of the Steakhouse 71 Chocolate Cake!
Disney's Beach Club Resort
Full of soft colours and casual elegance, this New England-style hotel shares a lot of features with Yacht Club, including several of the dining options and the Stormalong Bay pool - word is that it's the best pool at Disney with its sandy bottom, hot tubs, and pirate-themed waterslide. In terms of rooms, you can choose from Standard, Club Level, or go all out in the Nantucket VP Suite. Rent a poolside cabana, take a pontoon boat out on the water, play a game of tennis or go on a guided fishing excursion. With a great location giving you access to the Skyliner, EPCOT and the entertainment of the BoardWalk area, this is option a no-brainer for many.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Inspired by the horse shoe shape of the traditional African kraal, you'll get some mega views of 4 lush savannas - home sweet home to over 200 birds and animals. This resort is also home to one of the largest collections of African art in the US. Take a Standard Room (sleeps 4) or go large with a Villa (sleeps 12). Feast on both African and American dishes, or go a step further and dine with an Animal Specialist! Your nearest watering holes are the Uzima and Samawati Springs pools with squirting Venus Flytraps, rope bridges, and cannons.
