Cheap car hire in Berlin
If you’re planning to do a bit of exploring when you visit the capital of Germany, take control of your own destiny and check out the possibility of hiring a car in Berlin. Nestled in the north east of the country, close to the Polish border, there’s plenty to keep you occupied in the local area, although you may wish to explore other parts of Germany too.
The road system is relatively easy to navigate, although the high speeds some motorists reach on the motorways should be kept in mind. Keep to the outside lane if you're not overtaking, German drivers don’t take too kindly to folk dawdling in the middle lane.
Taking the option of a sat nav is recommended to alleviate the stress of map reading, and having to ask for directions in a foreign language; although you should find that locals are generally quite competent when it comes to speaking English.

Sitting just over 20 miles to the south west of Berlin you’ll find Potsdam, which is less than a 45 minute drive from the capital’s centre. Here you will find landmarks such as the famous Schloss Sanssouci, the summer palace of Frederick the Great.
Reaching other major German cities can be quite an undertaking, with a trip to Frankfurt consisting of a drive totalling almost 350 miles (around five and a half hours), while Munich in the south is a similar journey.
A jaunt into nearby Poland can be worth a day trip, with a drive to Stettin taking around an hour and 45 minutes, or Wroclaw approximately double this. If you're headed this way then further exploration of the Sudeten Mountains, which straddle the border of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, could form part of your trip.
