Cheap car hire in Hong Kong
If you’re headed for Hong Kong you may decide a car hire will best serve your needs, and it can certainly be a useful option to take.
Before committing to hotels and rental cars ensure your hotel has parking facilities or at least a public car park situated in the vicinity of your lodgings. One of the best uses to put a hire car to is if you’re planning on visiting the New Territories, or indeed if you’re going to be staying there rather than on Hong Kong Island or in Kowloon.

Your own set of wheels will give you the freedom to explore the rural side to Hong Kong, which is a truly stunning and rewarding experience. The compact nature of the country means you can quickly get around and enjoy the rolling countryside and mountainous landscape. Try the Sai Kung Peninsula around 25 miles north east of Hong Kong Island for some spectacular coastal scenery, and challenging hiking routes such as at Nam She Tsim, or Sharp Peak.
Get out in the fresh air on two wheels, and enjoy the plentiful mountain bike tracks and quiet country roads that permeate the New Territories. Hire a bike from somewhere like Sha Tin, less than half an hour away from Hong Kong Island, or Tai Po, just another 15 minutes further north. The Ma On Shan and Pat Sin Leng Country Parks are right on the doorstep, in addition to the Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve.
Take the Ping Shan Heritage Trail for a dose of local education, or visit the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery in Sha Tin; featuring a nine storey pagoda in addition to something closer to 13,000 Buddha statues. The New Territories offer plenty more, and it’s well worth spending the time exploring.
