For the majority of the year, Cairns enjoys beautiful blue skies and gentle breezes. It's better to visit during the dry season (from June to October), as tropical cyclones can influence the weather during the wet season.

Getting Around

Cairns is a fairly easy city to navigate thanks to its flatness and the fact the everything is close together. This is great if you're staying in the city itself, but if you're planning on heading into the mountains to explore the rainforests, you'll need a car or, at the very least, a bike. Cairns has a number of transport options for all budgets. A great way to get around is on a 4WD tour, which will pick you up and drop you off at your doorstep and take you through north Queensland's stunning rainforests and mountains.
