Family Holiday Inspiration - Long Haul

Taking the family to a long haul destination can be both exciting and stressful. Holidays further away from home mean more exciting places to explore and a way to expose children to different cultures and experiences. Whether you’re considering a trip to Asia to show your children a different lifestyle, or a holiday to Australia to outline its history – there are a range of options for a long haul voyage.

Firstly, you need to consider the ages of your children. Whilst there’s no real problem with taking young children far away from home on holiday if you’re happy with it, once they’re over the age of five, you’ll need to ensure that any trips occur during the school holidays. Older children and teenagers may not want to be away from their friends for too long – so make sure you get them onside early – it’ll excite them about the upcoming trip.

You’ll need to think about the time of year that you’re travelling too. Bear in mind that if you cross to the southern hemisphere, the seasons will be reversed – so a trip to Australia during the school summer holidays will mean Australia wintertime. Some countries are susceptible to poor weather at certain times of year, whilst others may be too hot for young children to enjoy being outside for long periods of time. Researching your destination is always a good idea before you book.

Inspirational Asia

Asia is a great place to explore as a family, especially if you’re the adventurous type. Whether you choose to head to one place – such as Hong Kong or Singapore – and take your time learning about the city, or head from place to place on a tour, you’ll find culture, history and fun abounds across the continent. We advise Kuala Lumpur as an exciting place to see a different culture whilst still having good travel connections, or Hong Kong with its mix of modern buildings and stunning surroundings – as well as DisneyWorld!

Melbourne 06

Inspirational Australia

A much loved holiday destination, Australia is popular for its beautiful beaches, wonderful weather and iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House. If you’re looking for something slightly different, why not choose to visit the contemporary cultural city of Perth? Kids will love the festivals and events which are often taking place, whilst there’s also Australian wildlife to be seen!

North America Inspiration

North America has a huge choice of destinations perfect for a family visit. Choose the excitement of Canadian city of Toronto, with its balmy summers best enjoyed by the waterfront to the icy winters perfect for a unique Christmas break. Or take the kids to Washington DC – home of the President of the United States, the White House is an unforgettable place to visit and will certainly give them something to talk about at school!

Dubai Inspiration

Culturally unlike anything they will have seen at home, Dubai’s grand hotel resorts, blazing sunshine and coast of warm water is a unique place to spend a vacation. As well as fabulous family friendly hotels to explore, kids can get active with water sports or try something different – like a desert sand-dune safari. All totally worth a slightly longer flight!
