Operating from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thai Airways is the largest operational airline working in and from Thailand. With a fleet size of 100, the airline flies to more than 70 destinations (including domestic) in more than 30 different countries across the globe. It also has one of the largest passengers operations in Europe for an Asia-Pacific carrier.

Thai Airways is one of the founding members of the world’s first and largest global airline alliance; Star Alliance. Alongside this kick starter attitude, Thai Airways holds an exceptionally good reputation amongst the airline industry. This has been proved on several occasions through the acquisition of multiple awards, including the Skytraz Best Airline in the World in 2006 and the World’s Best First Class Lounge (Suvarnabhumi Airport) in 2009.

Flying to multiple destinations across the globe, Thai Airways gives passengers the option of both long and short haul destinations worldwide; with a special emphasis on non-stop commercial flights (some services from Bangkok to Athens and Bangkok to Brisbane are both non-stop).

Onboard Services

There are a variety of difference services available for those flying with Thai Airways, which all depend on the destination of your flight and the cabin class you travel in. Thai Airways flights comprise of four different cabin classes for passengers to choose from

  • Royal First Class
  • Royal Silk Class
  • Premium Economy Class  
  • Economy Class

Renowned for its amazing in flight service, Thai Airways provides travellers with excellent meals in all four classes - so you feel wined and dined wherever you’re flying. Alongside an array of complimentary drinks, the on board menus change on a regular basis, offering passengers a variety of different options.

Those that require specific meals for religious or health reasons, can request one 72 hours before departure.

Flying from the UK

Thai Airways international flights depart from Terminal 3 London Heathrow. This allows all passengers to change onto the connecting Star Alliance flights.

Check In

For those flying on Thai Airways from London Heathrow, you can check in at Terminal 3, Zone D. Here you will also find separate check in areas for different cabin classes - with the check in desks located at counters D15-D22 (TG911) and D38-D45 (TG917).

The check in opens four hours before the flight departure and closes 45 minutes before the flight departs. Passengers may also check in online from two to 24 hours prior to their flight departure.

Whilst you wait to leave on Thai Airways, there are two private departure lounges - the SAS Business Lounge (the Star Alliance Lounge) for Royal First Passengers and the London Lounge for Royal Silk passengers.
