Flights to Kuala Lumpur are cheapest from March to April and September to November. These months are considered off-season and tend to be wetter than other times of the year. December to February and May to August are the peak seasons and prices are raised accordingly. The airport is divided into three parts: the Main Terminal, Satellite Terminal and klia2. Domestic flights are assigned to klia2, the main terminal for Malaysia Airlines domestic flights. Klia2 is located just over a mile (2 kilometres) away from the main building. An aerotrain also runs between the Main Terminal and Satellite Terminal every three to five minutes.

Getting to the city from Kuala Lumpur International Airport
To reach the city from the airport, travellers can take a train, taxi or bus. The KLIA Ekspres links the airport with Kuala Lumpur Sentral (the city’s central station) in only 28 minutes and costs RM55 (around £10) for a one-way ticket. There is also the KLIA Transit commuter rail, which costs the same, but takes slightly longer (35 minutes). A taxi ticket can be purchased at the taxi ticket counter for about RM70 (£12). For a more expensive and luxurious taxi experience, limousine services and executive taxis cost upwards of RM100 or more (£18 or more). The bus service is the cheapest option at only RM18 (£3).
Getting around the airports
The Main Terminal and Satellite Terminal both have duty-free shops and popular brands, Wi-Fi, shower rooms and massage services and spas, in addition to A.T.M.s, currency exchanges, public toilets, public phones and medical services. The Satellite Terminal also feature a ‘rainforest’ in the centre of the building, a movie lounge and a children’s play area. The Main Terminal has five different levels. Level 3 is for arrivals, and Level 5 is for departures. The Satellite Terminal has departures and arrivals on the first level with amenities on both first and mezzanine levels.
Don’t forget before you fly
It is always a good idea to exchange a couple of pounds into the Malaysian Ringgit before travelling. Nevertheless, the airport has A.T.M.s and currency exchanges available upon arrival.
