If you’re driving to Glasgow Airport, exit the M8 at Junction 28 if you’re travelling from the East, or Junction 29 if you’re driving from the West. Dubai airport is only about three miles away from the city centre, and you’ve got various options to get there. To use the Metro, take the Red Line from the airport to Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall or Burj Khalifa. It takes around 25 minutes and costs around 4.20 AED one-way. If your flight lands in the small hours of the morning, get a taxi instead – expect to pay something in the region of 62 AED to get to the Downtown area.

Airport Information

Flying from Glasgow Airport
There are two terminals at Glasgow Airport – Terminal 1 handles the majority of arrivals and departures, while the smaller Terminal 2 serves a few budget airlines. Emirates flights set off from the main terminal, with check-in counters in the middle of the ground floor concourse, and departures on the first floor. Terminal 1 is joined to Terminal 2 by a covered walkway, so it’s easy to get between them. Glasgow Airport is the only airport in Scotland with direct motorway access, so driving here is a good option – it takes about 20 minutes from the city centre. If you’re leaving your car here, there are lots of parking options including long-stay, short-stay, fast-track, and pick-up.

Landing in Dubai International Airport
Emirates flights arrive into Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. It’s full of Duty Free shops and restaurants and even has three spas if you’re in need of some pampering after your flight. If you need to get between terminals, there’s a free 24-hour shuttle bus service between Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and the Metro runs between Terminals 1 and 3. There are plenty of ATMs throughout the terminals, and the currency is the United Arab Emirates Dirham, or AED. If you’re using public transport to get into the city, the Metro’s Red Line leaves from terminals 1 and 3 straight into Downtown Dubai, with trains every four minutes in peak time.
