Bahamas airport guide
The Bahamas are served by two main international airports – Lynden Pindling International Airport on the island of New Providence, and Grand Bahama International Airport on Grand Bahama Island. In addition, Marsh Harbour International Airport on Abaco Island is a smaller airport, supporting flights to Nassau and some cities in Florida.
Lynden Pindling International Airport
Lynden Pindling International Airport (IATA code NAS) is located just 16 kilometres from Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas on the island of New Providence. It’s the country’s largest airport and is used by several international airlines, including a range of US airlines, Air Canada and British Airways.
Lynden Pindling International Airport was previously known as Nassau International Airport. In 2006, its name was changed in honour of the first prime minister of The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Today the airport features high ceilings and plenty of light, attractive art installations and a wide range of modern shops and restaurants.
Lynden Pindling International Airport Facilities
The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has a branch at the airport’s International terminal, and ATMs are available at all three terminals – Domestic, International and the US Terminal, which is reserved for travellers heading to the United States and features US border pre-clearance facilities.
You’ll find an information centre operated by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, as well as a post office, in the International Arrivals terminal.
The upper level of the US Departures area includes a wide range of duty-free shops, and the airport includes a good range of restaurants, cafés, bars and fast food outlets.
You can access up to half an hour of free Wi-Fi in the airport’s departure lounge. The airport also includes a play area for children, three outdoor patios and a smoking lounge.

Taxis are the main option for getting to and from the airport. They’re readily available outside the airport’s arrival halls, with fares charged based either on a standard zone rate or a metre rate.
In addition, a number of tour bus companies offer pre-booked transport from the airport. Among these are Bahamas Experience Tours, Dan Knowles Tours, Leisure Travel & Tours Ltd. and Majestic Tours Bahamas.

It features a runway capable of handling large planes, and is used by a number of US airlines. In addition, Bahamasair offers regular flights from the airport to other islands throughout the Bahamas.
The airport is fairly small, with international and domestic terminals within walking distance. However, it’s a modern airport that includes all the main facilities you’re likely to want.

ATMs are available in both terminals, and an information desk, a restaurant and a bar are located in the International terminal. The airport also includes a range of duty-free shops and a post office.
