Qatar - Airport guide

Opened in April 2014, the brand new Hamad International Airport with its state-of-the-art facilities is Qatar’s main aviation gateway. With flights arriving from across the globe Hamad International Airport is well equipped to handle a multitude of passengers.

Hamad International Airport offer a world-class selection of duty-free shopping experiences, stores include Chanel, Burberry, Harrods and Michael Kors to name a few. With a wide selection of dining experiences ranging from mezze style platters to burgers. The Oryx lounge is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy superior hospitality. The Vitality Wellbeing & Fitness Centre is open 24 hours a day and offers a selection of exclusive reviving treatments. Don’t miss the showcase artwork of local artists seen throughout the passenger terminal.

Britons require a single-entry tourist visa on arrival. This is valid for a one month stay and is payable at the immigration counter on arrival. The easiest way is to pay by debit/credit card.

Transport

Getting from the airport to your intended destination within Qatar is simple due to the vast number of connection options available.

Limousines

If you are celebrating, why not hire a limousine for you holiday in Qatar? In the Arrivals Hall you will find the Mowasalat Limousine kiosk. Rentals are payable in cash or credit card and can also be prebooked.

Taxis

It is easy to hire a taxi from the Taxi Pavilion located just outside the passenger terminal. All taxis are metered and the starting fare is QAR 25 (USD 7). Please note that taxis only accept cash payments in the local currency. Airport taxis are operated by Qatari state-owned company Mowasalat. All vehicles are clean, well-maintained and staffed by trained drivers.

Public Transport

The Bus Pavilion is located to the right of the passenger terminal through the Arrivals Hall.  Doha’s bus network connects Hamad International Airport to various destinations across the city. Your bus fare can only be paid with a Karwa Smartcard which can be purchased from the bus driver. Smartcards start from QAR 10 (USD 3) and are valid for two trips within Greater Doha in a 24 hr period.

Car Hire

Cars are available to rent in a range of makes, models, packages and extras. Please present an international driving licence along with a credit card at the time of booking. Payment is made in the local currency. Car rental counters can be found through the Arrivals Hall across the street.
