Settle in and start with a stroll through this chic city, taking in the sights and sounds as the smells of surrounding restaurants tempt you towards them. Head into The Pearl District for arts, nightlife and thriving fashion. Go up in the world and shop till you drop in the fabulously lavish Nob Hill area, oh did we mention the NO SALES TAX? Go on, fill your... bags! From Portland, head out along the Historic Columbia River Highway – one of the many designated scenic byways in the state. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Gorge below and the many waterfalls close to the highway, the most impressive of which is Multnomah Falls, which drops 620 feet and is Oregon's most popular natural attraction.

Days 5 & 6 Astoria
Your onwards drive to Astoria will share with you some of the most dramatic scenery you are likely to experience. Day 4 Coos Bay

Day 5 Roseburg

Day 6 - 7 Bend
More scenic byways will take you to the unspoilt wonder of Crater Lake National Park. No other place in America matches the dramatic beauty of Crater Lake – deep, pure and astoundingly blue. Surrounded by sheer cliffs nearly 2,000 feet high, the lake is the 7th deepest in the world and the deepest in the United States. Continue north and take the Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway through Deschutes National Forest as you head for Central Oregon’s high desert and the friendly town of Bend. Geologic wonders unfold as you witness Newberry Volcano, the Lava Lands Visitor Center and take the Trail of Molten Lava. A day to remember will be when you mount the chairlift and reach the summit of Mt. Bachelor, all the while oohing and ahhing at the spectacular scenery below. Think cascading waterfalls... and you're there.

Day 8 Baker City
Today, stop by at the John Day National Monument and witness other fascinating historic sites as you drive on the Journey Through Time Scenic Byway.
