City Summer Holidays - Melbourne
With its slightly cooler temperatures Melbourne’s winter – our summer – makes the perfect alternative summer holiday for those seeking to avoid too much heat.
It may not have the size or the world famous landmarks of Sydney, but Melbourne’s charm, mix of modern and Victorian architecture, and culture sets Australia’s second largest city apart from its rival. Walking through the city centre the dramatic differences between the buildings are always present, like the cutting modern metal of Federation Square, or the glowing yellow facade of the Flinders Street train station the difference draws you in and is captivating in whatever season you visit.

Eating Out In Melbourne
Along with art and music another thing Melbourne takes seriously is pride in their local food. With three festivals celebrating food and drink throughout the year it is definitely something to get your teeth into. During June the focus is firmly on food and wine from around Victoria in The Roast Collection as local wineries and restaurants make their favourite winter dishes. The other festival during this period comes at the beginning of September when The Spring Graze rolls out across the city. Here the focus is on the produce of the new season, with more than 60 events in Melbourne and the surrounding area it is a must for all foodie travellers.
Through Melbourne’s winter the temperatures can start to feel closer to those of the UK spring. From June through to September temperatures range from about 13 – 18°C. The weather in July/August is also quite changeable, so layers that can go on and off are useful.
