Brazil

Situated in the tropics, Brazil is a popular holiday destination year-round. Attractions include pristine beaches, breath-taking mountain ranges, luscious rainforest and buzzing metropolises. Brazil is an ideal location whether you’re travelling on a large or limited budget. There's something for everyone, from hiking, surfing, snorkelling and hang-gliding over Rio de Janeiro, to clubbing, samba classes and lively festivals.

Brazil was colonised by Portuguese fleets in 1500. The country spans almost half of the South American continent and is bordered by all South American countries except for Chile and Ecuador. Its diverse ecosystems, ranging from rainforest to tropical islands, boast the largest collection of plant and animal species found anywhere on earth.

Brazil is the only Portuguese-speaking country in South America. Spanish, English and French are also widely understood, particularly in tourist locations.

Breath-taking beaches

Brazil boasts 8,000 kilometres of coastline. Along with temperatures that rarely drop below 20 degrees Celsius; this makes it the perfect tropical holiday destination. Brazil’s beaches range from populated strips with colourful umbrellas and food vendors to quieter coves with azure waters. Often at the centre of social life in Brazil, the beach is the perfect place to tan, eat, drink, play sports and mingle. For a lively experience, head to famous beaches Copacabana and Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro.

Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo

The two largest cities in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, are home to over 6 million and 11 million people, respectively.

Rio de Janeiro is famous for its beautiful coastline and grand mountains. The city is one of the most visited in the Southern Hemisphere, and is popular for its lively carnivals, white beaches and Samba dance clubs.

Known for its pumping nightlife, rich culture, great live music and highly rated restaurants, São Paulo is also a popular holiday destination. Brazil's largest city, São Paulo is considered the art centre of the country. It’s also home to many important monuments, museums and parks. With significant Italian, Arab and Japanese populations, São Paulo has a rich and diverse culture.
