What does ATOL offer?
Financial protection and the means to return home for flight inclusive holidays if the company you book with fails.
How does ATOL differ from ABTA?
Some ABTA members offer additional financial protection for non-ATOL products. ABTA members are governed by ABTA’s Code of Conduct, under which you will receive high service standards before, during and after booking your holiday.
Did you know?
If you book a flight & hotel/car hire separately, but through the same company and within 24 hours of each other, you are ATOL protected - this is known as a Flight-plus holiday.

Flights to San Francisco

Get ready to sit by the dock of a beautiful bay and check out flights to San Francisco. Despite its location on the west coast of the United States, the Golden Gate City is just 11 hours from London on a direct flight, although sometimes a stop can help to keep costs down, and is usually necessary from other UK airports.

Once at San Francisco International Airport, the best way to get to the downtown area of the city is taking the Bay Area Rapid Transport, or BART, system. Easily accessible anywhere in the airport, trains are frequent, tickets are cheap, and you'll be downtown in half an hour, with a choice of stops that suit your accommodation.

Californian weather is rarely to be sniffed at, but be mindful of the fact this northern city does not enjoy the year-round warmth of southern spots like San Diego. If you’re after some rays make sure you look at flights for the summer months, but San Francisco’s reputation for cool summers mean it’s great for the tourist who enjoys getting round the city they’re staying in.

There’s certainly plenty to see once you get there, including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and a certain little island called Alcatraz. Head to Dolores Park on a nice day and hang out with spectacular views of the city, before seeking out some dinner at one of the city’s countless restaurants or the large Chinatown area. If you’re into your sports then be sure to check if there’s something on the calendar that tickles your fancy.
