Airline Information - Air France

Air France is a global airline which serves 183 destinations in 98 countries and manages 1,500 flights daily. The airline boasts nearly 400 aircraft – both Boeing and Airbus carriers, although the majority of short haul flights are on Airbus aircraft. Air France was born of the merger of four of the leading French transport companies; established in 1933 it has established itself as a first class carrier. In 2000, along with Delta Airways, Aeromexico and Korean Air the airline founded the SkyTeam global alliance. In 2004 a merger between Air France and KLM placed the two airlines under the same management.

Flying from the UK

Air France flies from 11 UK airports including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh and others.

For international flights it is advised that passengers arrive at least 2 hours before their departure time to check in and pass through the necessary security areas.

Online check-in is available for Air France customers, via the website for 30 hours before their flight check in deadline. Passengers can use their booking reference and name to check in, before printing off their boarding pass at home, or requesting an electronic boarding pass which can be sent to a smartphone or other internet enabled device.

Passengers can also check in via their mobile phone, provided the phone has the necessary specifications; boarding passes are received via either email or SMS (text) message. Passengers can also print their boarding pass via the self service machines at most airports if their e-boarding pass fails.

Some airports have self service check-in facilities, allowing passengers to check in at their convenience. Some airports also have facilities for self service baggage check-in for business customers.

Pre-assigned seating is available with online and mobile check-in, but passengers are reminded that it is allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
