Almeria Airport (LEI) is located eight kilometres from Almeria city centre, in the bay of Almeria. It’s a gateway for tourism in the Almeria province, serving around a million international and domestic passengers per year, with connections to other popular tourist destinations in the region such as Roquetas de Mar, Cabo de Gata and Mojacar.

On Arrival and Getting Around the Airport

Almeria Airport (LEI) has a single terminal building. The arrivals area is located on the ground floor, along with customs and baggage reclaim. Upon arrival, follow the signs to the baggage reclaim area in the arrivals hall, where you’ll find four carousels. In the airport terminal, you’ll find a range of useful facilities and amenities for travellers, including shops, restaurants and a pharmacy, and free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal. Car rental agencies can be found in the arrivals hall, and taxis are located outside the passenger terminal as you leave. If you need any help when you arrive, you can ask at the tourist information desk in the arrivals hall.

Getting to the City from Almeria Airport LEI

It’s easy to reach Almeria city centre from the airport. Bus route 30 connects the airport to Almeria City, with a journey time of around 35 minutes. The bus stop is located just outside the main terminal building. The taxi rank is also outside the arrivals area of the terminal, and taxis in Almeria should be metered. Hiring a car is another good way of getting around and you can find car hire companies in the arrivals hall of the airport, though it’s worth pre-booking your car before you arrive.

At the Museo de la Guitarra, you can discover the history Spanish guitar music and the prominent local guitar-maker Antonio de Torres. Or take a tour of the Refugios de la Guerra Civil, a series of tunnels and underground shelters recreating the city’s wartime past. After exploring the city, head to one of Almeria’s lively tapas bars for drinks and bar snacks, or to a traditional bodega to try local specialities such as Iberico ham, fresh shellfish and seafood dishes.
