When is the cheapest time to fly to Brisbane?

The cheapest time to fly to Brisbane is traditionally from mid-April to mid-June, though there are often last-minute bargains popping up throughout the year. The shoulder seasons run from the beginning of February to April, mid-June to mid-July and the third week of September to the beginning of December. Prices rise over Christmas and during school holiday periods in the UK and US. Unless you’re planning to attend one of the city’s festivals, like the popular Royal Queensland Show in August, it’s best to avoid travel times that coincide with the festivities.

Getting around the airport

There are two terminals at Brisbane Airport – international and domestic. An orange Transfer Bus connects the two terminals with Skygate, the shopping precinct, taking between 7 and 10 minutes. A shuttle also connects the international and domestic terminals for AU$5.00*. Travellers arriving into Brisbane can expect to find a number of services and amenities and clear signs to onward travel options. Those departing from Brisbane Airport will also find a wide range of facilities with the contemporary traveller in mind.

Which airports in the UK operate flights to Brisbane?

Flights depart from London Heathrow and London Gatwick to Brisbane Airport regularly. You can also find flights which depart from Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle. The multi-leg journey can include a stop over at places such as Sydney, Singapore or Hong Kong, depending on which airline you travel with.

Emirates, Qantas and Singapore Airlines all depart from London Heathrow and are the main airlines offering indirect flights to Brisbane from the UK. There are no direct flights at present. Getting to the city from Brisbane Airport

To get to the city centre from the airport travellers can choose from a number of options. The Airtrain is the most simple and economic, leaving every 15 minutes at peak times and operating from 5:45am and 10pm. It takes 22 minutes to arrive in Brisbane and also stops along the Gold Coast. Con-x-ion Airport Transfer shuttle coaches meet every flight and travel to the CBD, Gold Coast, Brisbane Cruise Terminal/Portside Wharf Hamilton and the Sunshine Coast. For an additional fee and with advance booking they also provide private bus charters. There are also Yellow and Black and White taxis available.

Getting around the airports

Brisbane Airport is easy to navigate and provides a number of facilities to make your transfer time enjoyable. Alongside duty-free shopping and a range of Australian and international store outlets, there is a wide selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. An information centre, Travelex, baggage wrapping service, airport spa and newsagents are some of the amenities on site. Free WiFi and charging stations help keep you connected while on the move.

Don’t forget before you fly

Don’t forget your tourist visa before you fly! All visitors outside of Australian and New Zealand nationals require a temporary visa to enter Brisbane, which is often free of charge, depending on its type.
