Getting to the city from Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport has trains, public buses, taxis and limousines available for travellers to take into the city. The train runs from 5:30 am until 11:20 pm approximately. The train from the airport stop at Tanah Merah station. Once there, travellers can change trains to go directly to the city. Public buses 36 and 36A operate from 6 am until midnight. They cost around SG$2.50 (just over £1) for an hour ride into the city. Taxis take less time, only about 30 minutes or so, but cost a lot more. A typical taxi ride costs between SG$20 and SG$40 (£11 to £22). A large taxi with seven seats costs SG$60 (£33). In addition, there is a SG$5 (less than £3) surcharge between 5 pm and midnight and on Fridays to Sundays; for the rest of the week, the surcharge is SG$3 (less than £2). Limousines start at SG$55 (£30).

Getting around the airports

The Singapore Changi Airport has more than just the basic amenities; it also provides activities and points of interest for travellers. All three terminals have a wide selection of shops, dining, currency exchanges, Wi-Fi, public transport stops, gardens and more. Terminal 1 boasts an art installation and a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi. Terminal 2, on the other hand, has an entertainment deck with video games and a cinema. In addition to a 24-hour cinema, Terminal 3 also has the world’s tallest slide at an airport. For those taking the train, head to Terminals 2 and 3 for the access point.

Don’t forget before you fly

Singapore allows travellers coming for tourism, business and social visits to stay in the country for up to 30 days without a visa. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry. For those who require medication, certain prescribed medications and over-the-counter medicines may require a permit.
