From sea to summit
Whatever your tastes, you will find something to satisfy them when you book a cheap flight to Tenerife. From golf, water sports, clubbing and chilling on the beach to soaking up the local culture or experiencing the breath-taking scenery in the Teide National Park, there is something for everyone. Tenerife has approximately 360 kilometres of coastline and over 50 diverse beaches that are waiting to be explored.
In the South, Playa de las Vistas, Playa de Fañabé and Playa del Duque offer everything you could wish for on a beach holiday. The resorts here feature the island’s finest restaurants, clubs, golf courses, water sports and theme parks. The North is a bit quieter and more traditional and features the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, home to one of the busiest ports in Spain. The beaches in the north are mainly black lava beaches but around Santa Cruz de Tenerife you will find lighter coloured beaches, with Playa de Las Teresitas arguably the best of the lot. The interior is dominated by the Teide National Park, featuring the island’s three volcanos. You can go on a hike through this UNESCO World Heritage Site or catch a ride to the top on a cable car.
When to go
The busiest times are over the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and during the winter months, when tourists flock to take advantage of the warm weather. Being a family-friendly destination, the island is busy during school holidays. You can book return flights all year round with Netflights.
A holiday in Tenerife almost guarantees the perfect level of heat (24 degrees), little rain and plenty of sun. However, the temperature can vary depending on where you are on the island. The south tends to be warmer with hot summers and mild winters. The north is cooler with higher rainfall, especially in winter. The central regions are cooler with snow-capped peaks in winter, when the temperature averages seventeen degrees Celsius.
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the second biggest carnival in the world. It is held at the beginning of Lent (40 days before Easter) each year. Book direct flights to Tenerife with Netflights and be a part of the spectacle. The carnival is in February in 2018.
